Asheville marketing firm The Brite Agency has launched a new website that foregoes traditional navigation and vertical scrolling in favor of a design meant to encourage visitors to explore its many interactive features.

The agency’s new web presence at http://www.briteagency.com is a side-scrolling site with several “living” components, including fireflies swirling in the background on the home page, hyperlinked text that eschews underlines in favor of a glowing effect, and an animated goldfish swimming in the agency’s signature light bulb.

“Our experience has been that our website is rarely a potential client’s introduction to our firm,” said Principal Stephanie Smith. “Most of our hits come from people typing our URL directly into their address bar or searching specifically for our firm, so they’re at least somewhat familiar with us.

“Therefore, we didn’t feel it was necessary to include the stock introductory text on the front page or even have traditional menu-based navigation. Instead, we wanted to showcase our creativity.”

As visitors explore the site, they discover that it contains the content one would expect to find on the website for an advertising agency, including a breakdown of services, a portfolio, team bios, social media links and even a blog. But all of these elements are presented in a Technicolor format with text, photos and icons that respond to roll-overs and clicks.

The site was coded by Blue Ridge Solutions, a company that Brite has partnered with for more than a decade.

“We partner with The Brite Agency to build websites for several clients,” said Dan Kellem, president of Blue Ridge Solutions. “Our clients’ business models and marketing goals often necessitate a more traditional site, and of course we relish the challenge of making these sites stand out from the crowd. However, this time we enjoyed crafting a site where the focus was on creating a virtual playground, so to speak.”
