Award-Winning School District Draws Families to Master-Planned Hill Country Community
(PRWEB) August 31, 2013 -- The community of Cordillera Ranch, located just northwest of San Antonio, has seen a population boom in the last decade, much like the rest of the Boerne, Texas community. Since 2000, Boerne's population has grown by nearly 63%, and Cordillera Ranch's land inventory has felt the effect. The 8,700 acre master-planned community’s growth can be seen in the 35 homes presently under construction and the additional 35 homes in Architectural Review.
Cordillera's growth can be attributed to a variety of reasons, such as the 25-mile Hill Country views, world-class Clubs of Cordillera Ranch amenities, and its ideal balance between serene nature and nearby city life. What is often overlooked, however, is the same aspect drawing a large number of families to the community--the Boerne Independent School District.
The award-winning Boerne ISD has achieved great successes over the years on both a state and national level, solidifying the district a position as one of the best school districts in Texas. Most recently, Boerne ISD receive a "Met Standard" rating, the highest possible ranking in the Texas Education Agency's newly instituted rating system.
Boerne ISD's two middle schools and five elementary schools all placed in their three eligible categories: Student Achievement, Student Progress, and Closing Performance Gaps. Both high schools ranked in their four eligible categories, the fourth being the additional Postsecondary Readiness. Samuel V. Champion High School received further distinctions in Reading/English Language Arts, while Boerne High School received distinctions in Reading/English Language Arts and Math.
The rating is unsurprising when considering Boerne ISD’s track record of educational excellence. In 2011, the University Interscholastic League of Texas honored Samuel V. Champion High School with the coveted Lone Star Cup. Awarded based on success in both academic and athletic competitions, the Cup denotes the top 4A high school in Texas.
Additionally, GreatSchools.org released their latest takings earlier this year, basing their out of 10 scores on individual schools' standardized test results. Several of Boerne ISD’s schools were recognized:
Cibolo Creek Elementary -- Ranked 10 out of 10
Boerne Middle School North -- Ranked 8 out of 10
Boerne Middle School South -- Ranked 9 out of 10
Boerne High School -- Ranked 9 out of 10
Champion High School -- Ranked 10 out of 10
