Customer Witnesses Successful Carburizing Demonstration Prior to Furnace Shipment
Souderton, PA (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- Solar Manufacturing, Inc. recently conducted a successful carburizing demonstration of a new furnace built for a major gear manufacturer, which is currently being shipped across the U.S. In accordance with Solar Manufacturing’s on-going policy of fully testing a furnace with the customer in attendance prior to shipping, the Director of Technical Services from the gear manufacturer was on-site to see this successful carburizing results first-hand and approve immediate delivery. Two additional maintenance personnel also visited Solar to observe the furnace teardown which will ease re-assembly when it arrives at its final destination.
The furnace is a Solar Manufacturing Model HVC-3836-2IQ horizontal, front loading type vacuum carburizing furnace. The furnace has a work zone that measures 24” (610 mm) wide x 24” (610 mm) high x 36” (914 mm) deep with a hearth designed to accommodate up to a 1,000 pound workload. The entire hot zone utilizes a Flexshield hot face backed by four (4) layers of ½” thick graphite felt insulation all supported in a heavy-duty stainless steel structure. The heating elements are designed with thin, durable, curved graphite allowing for a maximum operating temperature of 2500oF. The vacuum pumping system consists of a Stokes Model 412J 300 CFM mechanical pump backed by a Stokes 615 Booster blower for vacuum operation in the low micron range.
A large 100 HP internal Fan and heat exchanger cooling system has been included for quenching loads to required hardness.
