Bronto Software, the leading marketing platform for commerce, today announced the availability of new targeting capabilities designed to help commerce marketers build more precise customer segments and campaigns based on the vast amount of data to which they now have access. This new feature set works seamlessly with Bronto’s drag-and-drop automation engine, making it easy for marketers to drive more revenue through dynamic, triggered campaigns.

The foundation of Bronto’s new system is an innovative marketing database. Bronto offers marketers the ability to store detailed past-purchase information directly within the Bronto Marketing Platform and to use this data to build segments and create more relevant campaigns. Bronto provides various options for importing order information into Bronto, including APIs and JavaScript, as well as pre-built integrations with e-commerce platforms such as Magento and Demandware.

Bronto analyzes order data and calculates key metrics for each contact in the database. Knowing which products someone purchased recently, along with metrics such as Average Order Value and Total Spend, can make for a much more effective campaign.

A new segment interface makes it much easier and faster to create sophisticated segments. Among other features, the enhanced interface now includes a new criteria browser for selecting segment categories. Instead of having to click on a drop-down menu to find a segment category, users can simply click on the appropriate button marked by an icon, making the experience of creating segments more visual, while reducing the number of clicks.

Segment rules can be easily re-ordered with simple drag-and-drop motions, and criteria can be quickly moved from one rule to another. A new cloning feature allows marketers to easily copy rules and criteria to save time when building more complex segments.

Bronto also allows marketers to target consumers based on their geographic location; for example, their proximity to a specific postal or zip code. This can be very helpful for retailers who have brick-and-mortar locations and want to promote a sale event to only those consumers who are within a defined radius around the store location.
