Promises and The Promises Foundation Celebrate Recovery Month with 8th Annual Polo in the Palisades Charity Event
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- On September 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Will Rogers State Park in Pacific Palisades, California, The Promises Foundation will bring together people in the entertainment, business, legal and recovery communities to help change the lives of low-income families in need at its 8th Annual Polo in the Palisades charity event benefiting Miriam’s House.
In 1999, Founder of Promises Treatment Centers Richard Rogg and his wife established The Promises Foundation with a vision to reunify mothers and their children through Miriam’s House, a transitional living home in Culver City, California. Miriam’s House provides a one-year program of recovery services and parenting and educational opportunities so that they can lead healthy, meaningful lives free from poverty and addiction.
This year, The Promises Foundation is privileged to honor four remarkable figures for their commitment to helping others:
• Matthew Perry, a producer, actor best known for his role as Chandler Bing on mega-hit show “Friends,” and substance abuse activist whose testimony before Congress helped secure more than $41 million for Drug Courts
• Anne Douglas, founder of the Anne Douglas Center, which has raised millions of dollars for the homeless in Los Angeles, and “Woman of the Year” as named by the Los Angeles Times
• Michael Nasatir, a criminal defense attorney with over 40 years of experience who has been honored as one of the Best Lawyers in America and one of L.A. County’s “Super Lawyers”
• Peggy Albrecht, an award-winning humanitarian and the executive director at Friendly House, the nation’s first residential addiction recovery home for women
The Master of Ceremonies will be Wendy Burch, an Emmy award-winning television anchor, reporter and host who has delivered thousands of live television news reports and worked as an entertainment correspondent for CBS News and E! In 2006, she founded The Good News Foundation, a non-profit charity that serves people in need in Los Angeles. Wendy is currently a weekend anchor and reporter for the award-winning KTLA Morning News.
Tickets for this event cost $250 each and tables start at $2,500. All proceeds will benefit Miriam’s House. To contribute to this worthy cause or learn more, contact Thomas Feldman, Project Coordinator at The Promises Foundation, at (310) 636-0165 or Thomas(at)promisesfoundation(dot)org.
