Wilmington, NC Personal Accident Lawyer Richard Flexner Comments on North Carolina “Booze It & Lose It” Campaign
Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) September 01, 2013 -- Wilmington, NC car accident attorney Richard Flexner today said he fully supports North Carolina’s “Booze It & Lose It” campaign, which he noted may lead to a reduction in the number of serious injuries and fatalities on the state’s highways as the summer comes to a close.
According to WCNC Charlotte (“'Booze It & Lose It' kicks off this weekend,” August 18), the campaign started on Friday, August 16 and will run through Labor Day weekend.
“In Wilmington and across North Carolina, it’s no secret that the end of summer can be a dangerous time for drivers,” said Flexner, who represents negligence victims and families who have lost loved ones in accidents. “With Labor Day weekend fast approaching, it’s important for all drivers to be reminded not only of the dangers – but also the consequences – of drinking and driving.”
The WCNC report stated that the state’s “Booze It & Lose It” campaign is directed at the state’s younger drivers, citing half of the state’s 11,000 alcohol-related crashes as involving drivers between 18 and 34 years old.
The campaign will include public service announcements on television and social media platforms designed to remind drivers to designate a sober driver, call a cab, or take public transit, the article said.
“The repercussions of a DUI conviction can be harsh, even for first time offenders. A convicted drunk driver could have his license revoked for one year and face a combination of a monetary fine, community service, and imprisonment,” Flexner said. “The consequences could be far worse. A drunk driver could be responsible for the death of an innocent person.”
“If you’ve been a victim of a drunk driving accident in North Carolina, you have legal rights against the DUI driver who caused your accident. You could be entitled to compensation if you or a loved one has sustained injuries as a result of their reckless behavior,” Flexner said. “Personal injury lawyers can help victims pursue compensation and closure for their losses and help send a strong message that drunk driving will not be tolerated in North Carolina.”
