“How to Blowdry Like a Pro” is the first in a series of do-it-yourself videos created by this hair salon & spa owner, who is also an eco-conscious vegetable and herb gardener, to empower her clients to recreate their looks from home between visits to the salon.

Master hairstylist Barbara Weigand, owner of Copper River Salon & Spa of Princeton, shares her beauty secrets for the perfect blowout on a video now posted on her website, http://www.copperriversalonandspa.com. “How to Blowdry Like a Pro” is the first in a series of do-it-yourself videos for Barbara’s “beautiful friends,” her clients who hail from the greater Princeton area and around the globe via her on-line presence.

The first video features Nadia, from Princeton Junction, NJ, who follows Barbara’s clear and simple guidance in creating a beautiful blowout. From detangling her wet hair, to rough-drying it with her fingertips, to pulling it taut with a brush to smooth the cuticle for a polished finish, Nadia demonstrates how to blowdry like a pro.

In sharing her new video, Barbara says it’s her job, and that of the rest of her team of talented and creative professionals, to provide the best cut and color for the client. Between visits to the salon located at 6 Moore Street in Princeton, she wants them to be able to recreate the look from home.

“We start by providing an outstanding haircut and beautiful coloring to set the stage for everyday beauty and the positive feelings that come with knowing you are looking your best,” says Barbara. “In my shop, and now through our website, we share ways to maintain the look we have created.”

Barbara, a top-tier stylist as well as an avid environmentalist and farmer, brings intelligence and artistry to her work. She listens intently to clients’ requests and applies her skills and vision to create hairstyles that bring out the beauty in each individual.

Three years ago she achieved a life-long dream to open her own business indulging clients’ beauty needs and desires when she opened Copper River Salon and Spa. She hired a team of leading stylists, colorists, technicians and estheticians with years of training and experience. All are dedicated to making their clients look better and feel better.

“In my 15-plus year career, I’ve learned to master many areas of hair — including color, texture modification, and styling. Where I command a razor sharp mastery, however, is precision cutting, an area that combines my artistic vision with my driving attention to detail,” she says.

“In the beginning of my career, I was trained in the cutting techniques of Vidal Sassoon, and over the years I’ve continued to improve and refine my skills through international training with the elite educators of the Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy and Toni&Guy. This continued education has taken me to the coolest and haute-est cultural landscapes of Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris — places that never cease to inspire me.”

“I’m no stranger to the timeless, classic cut, nor the funky, avant-garde look-of-the-moment, since my client base has always represented both sides of Princeton,” says Barbara. “I’m often asked to style fashion shows and photo shoots and always enjoy the opportunity to create that once-in-a-lifetime look for a bride, her bridal party, and other special occasions.”

She describes herself as an eco-conscious vegetable and herb gardener, community volunteer, and wife and mother of two. “I know the responsibility that comes with living a greener lifestyle, and the impact of making eco-friendly choices. I am constantly looking for ways to incorporate this philosophy into my work and business practice, while still pushing the creative boundaries of hair.”

She encourages her clients and the Princeton community to take advantage of her beauty recycling services by dropping off their used beauty product containers in the bin outside her shop.

“All too often, hair products are forgotten in terms of recycling. I think it’s one of the greatest things I can do as a spa owner. Beauty should have a conscience,” Barbara says.

Copper River Salon and Spa offers environmentally conscious product lines and is a member of the National Association of Eco Friendly Salons and Spas, an organization that aims to help eco-minded beauty establishments share strategies for making their businesses green.
