The Children’s Orthopaedic and Spine Center Sponsors Kinetic Kids
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) September 01, 2013 -- Summer is at an end along with the oh-so many summer camp programs, which includes the Kinetic Kids Summer term programs. Kinetic Kids offers year round, comprehensive group programs for children with special needs and with physical and cognitive disabilities. Kinetic Kids provides sports programs, art and music programs, and educational programs. Each season provides a different line-up of programs. The majority of these programs run once a week for 30 minutes to an hour for approximately six to eight weeks. These programs are designed and facilitated under the guidance of physical and occupational therapists.
Dr. Hongbo Liu, pediatric orthopaedic surgeon for San Antonio’s Children Orthopaedic & Spine center, participated at the event passing out superhero capes to all the children who participated while they received their metals. Dr. Liu also spoke at the event about pediatric health and orthopaedic conditions. The Children’s Orthopaedic & Spine Center is proud and feel that it’s important to participate at this event by having their very own pediatric orthopaedic specialists available to Kinetic Kids.
One of the various programs offered by Kinetic Kids that takes place during the summer is Gymnastics. Gymnastics is offered to children who are able to walk independently or with an assistive device (walker or crutches). The gymnasts perform on the trampoline, overhead bars, parallel bars, balance beams, vault and floor. A final exhibition is held at the conclusion of the gymnastics class for families and the community.
The Children’s Orthopaedic and Spine Center was extremely proud to be a sponsor of the Kinetic Kids Gymnastics finale that was held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Alamo Gymnastics Center in San Antonio (16665 Huebner Road). This event showcased to the public and to parents the amazing skills that these children have mastered within such a short period of time.
