Without a doubt, the Galleria Dallas play area is one of the biggest mall play areas we’ve ever created in this country.

“The play place is part of our strategy to attract children and families,” says Angie Freed, General Manager. “It’s on the third level of our shopping center where it can be difficult to attract traffic. With the play place, there are times when level three traffic is higher than other levels.”

According to Freed, Galleria Dallas opened its first play area in 2004 and, because it was so popular, decided to open a bigger custom play area this year.

“Galleria is all about the finest, the first, the best,” says Freed. “We decided it was time to give our customers something new. This new play area is 10% bigger, with 2,200 square feet of play space.”

Freed adds, “Everything’s bigger in Dallas.”

Freed worked with PLAYTIME, LLC on the new play area. PLAYTIME, which also created the previous indoor playground, is a commercial playground manufacturer and the global provider of unique, interactive, soft play areas and playground equipment for indoor, outdoor and water play.

David O’Niones, Vice President of Sales for PLAYTIME, says, “Without a doubt, the Galleria Dallas play area is one of the biggest mall play areas we’ve ever created in this country.”

Sponsored by valet company Towne Park, the new shopping center play area is completely custom-designed with a rainforest theme. It includes soft play elements shaped and hand-painted to look like a jaguar, piranha, rocks, a bridge, a Jeep, a snake on a log, temple and ruins, a gecko, a toucan on a boat, a gator, howler monkeys and a 13-foot tree.

With the play area now open for several weeks, Freed reports that it is a resounding success.

“It has been incredibly successful. It’s been very well received by our customers,” she says. “We’ve received at least a dozen letters saying, ‘Thanks for the new play place!’”
