FrontRunners, Surefoot Sued by Figari Law Firm for Alleged Racial Harassment
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 11, 2013 -- FrontRunners Footwear has been sued by three former employees who allege they were subjected to ongoing racial harassment and abuse by the manager of the elite Brentwood athletic shoe store frequented by A-list celebrities.
The lawsuit (BC518770) filed Aug. 20 and assigned to the Hon. Abraham Kahn in Los Angeles Superior Court by Pasadena civil rights attorney Barbara Figari states Brentwood store manager Niles Bunnag routinely and repeatedly used the “N” word to refer to African-American employees.
“There was a pattern and practice of racial harassment and abuse so oppressive that my clients felt they had no recourse but to leave their jobs,” Figari said.
In addition to the Brentwood store manager, the lawsuit names FrontRunners Footwear and Surefoot LLC of Park City, Utah, which owns and operates the Brentwood store, for failing to take reasonable steps to prevent alleged discrimination and harassment. It also alleges the corporations failed to act after one of the employees filed a grievance against the manager of the store at located at 11620 San Vicente Blvd.
Through its inaction, FrontRunner and Surefoot “are ratifying and condoning the harassment perpetuated by Mr. Bunnag,” the lawsuit states.
The lawsuit filed on behalf of Brandyn Toney, Uchenna Okezie, and Nathaniel Gordon seeks an injunction to stop the alleged racial harassment and damages.
