SOLOMO Technology Joins the Future of Privacy Forum
Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- SOLOMO Technology, Inc. today announced that it has joined the Future of Privacy Forum (FPF)’s group dedicated to developing best practices for Retail Mobile Location Analytics (RMLA).
FPF’s RMLA group is working with leading companies in technology, retail, academia and industry to advance responsible data practices. RMLA technology will help improve the consumer shopping experience by providing retailers reports used to reduce wait times at check-out, optimize store layouts and understand consumer shopping patterns. The technology uses smartphone signals that interact with store Wi-Fi networks in an anonymous way to generate the reports.
Ensuring that RMLA technologies have data protection standards and providing consumers with effective privacy options are of utmost importance. Additionally, RMLA technology should explain the benefits consumers will obtain in return for sharing their location. Transparency into what mobile location analytics are, and how they are enhancing the retail experience for consumers, will improve public trust in organizations using these solutions. An industry standard for addressing these concerns improves that transparency.
SOLOMO joins the conversation with a history of concern for transparency and privacy that has influenced the product direction for its SOLOMO Exchange™ platform. As an industry leader, SOLOMO wants to ensure that the standards being put forth are the best for fostering trusted relationships between brands and consumers. The alignment of SOLOMO’s values and FPF's goal to develop best practices for indoor location analytics make it a perfect fit.
“We look forward to continued advocacy for consumers and retailers alike through our participation in this forum. Our solutions are focused on enhancing trust between retailers and their customers, so early on we have built pioneering privacy options into our consumer-facing technology. Trust is the foundation of our corporate philosophy,” says Liz Eversoll, CEO of SOLOMO Technology, Inc.
This announcement by SOLOMO Technology follows a recent Series A financing round and a number of accolades, including its designation by Gartner Research as a 2013 Cool Vendor in Retail, Microsoft BizSpark’s recognition of SOLOMO as a “Featured Startup”, and recognition for SOLOMO’s “rock star team” in a recent NBC Chicago blog post.
