AlertSystems Respond to Number of Arrests Made Using CCTV
(PRWEB UK) 3 September 2013 -- According to The Docklands & East London Advertiser on August 24, 70 arrests were made in July after CCTV operators alerted police to incidents. These statistics have been released after the conviction of three men at the Old Bailey after CCTV tracked them following an armed robbery.
The seventy arrests, which include for robbery, possession of drugs on the street, and assault, come as a result of operators alerting police to incidents or directing police to a suspect. Operators use CCTV to identify suspects and digital recordings of the footage are then used in court.
Deputy Mayor Ohid Ahmed told The Docklands & East London Advertiser that:
“The CCTV images of crimes in progress are passed to the police who make the arrests. We can’t make this happen ourselves, but together with the police we bring offenders to justice.”
As experts in CCTV security systems, AlertSystems understand the importance of CCTV and how it can be used to identify suspects. A representative for the company offered their comments:
“These recent statistics highlight how vital CCTV can be in the identification of suspects and the conviction of those responsible. Installing a CCTV security system in your business can offer protection to your business, while the clear, high quality images recorded by your CCTV can help police with their enquiries and help further their investigations.”
