Pictopatch, a New Online Advertising Service Developed by an Eighteen Year Old Internet Visionary
(PRWEB) September 02, 2013 -- In early August, a British computer programmer and web developer named James Ashford created an idea that has the potential to change the face of online advertising with style and creativity in mind. After weeks of planning and development, Ashford finally conceived his idea into a working model and released his website on 17 August 2013, called pictopatch.com. The advertising strategy utilized on pictopatch.com comprises of a collective set of 50 by 50 square pixel icons which represent and link to the user’s advertisement profile hosted within the site. Each icon/ad allows the user to be creative and spontaneous in order to attract more viewers.
A user can submit an ad by filling out a basic form that collects basic information, including the ad title, the ad description, the ad duration, and the contact email address. With this form, a user can upload their square pixel icon and select the duration of time which they would like their icon to display on the homepage. The durations of time available to users is one week, one month, or one year. The relatively short duration choices allow for a high turnover of ads. As a result, PictoPatch is constantly refreshed with new content which viewers can enjoy.
“The idea of having set ad time lengths is not to cause any limitations within the service but as a chance for new users to upload and created more ads with us. This way, we will always see new icons on the homepage collage, which would inevitably make the site more appealing,” says Ashford.
Within 24 hours, the recipient of the email address will receive an email from PictoPatch informing the user of the ad’s condition (approved or removed.) Removed ads will be deleted from the database, and an email will be sent to the user to confirm the status. When an ad is approved, the user will be sent a link to pay for the ad via PayPal. Payments vary with ad duration. When the payment process is complete, the ad profile (or ad “Patch”) will be created with the user’s icon link on the homepage. When the ad duration expires, the ad will be automatically deleted from PictoPatch’s databases in order to make room for new ads.
