NIIC Welcomes Scientific and Biomedical Microsystems as New Resident Client
Fort Wayne, IN (PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- The Northeast Indiana Innovation Center welcomes Scientific and Biomedical Microsystems as its most recent addition to the entrepreneur ecosystem at the Innovation Park campus. The office will be led by veteran engineer and Fort Wayne resident, Mr. Michael Dobbs.
SB Microsystems develops a wide range of implantable components and systems for public and private clients such as NASA, The US Navy Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and a variety of medical device companies. The Fort Wayne office will concentrate on opportunities in the Midwest, in particular the development of compact lower power electronics (or ‘embedded systems’) for biomedical applications. Founded in 2006, SB Microsystems currently has 15 employees and is expected to grow in both offices this year.

SB Microsystems’ Research and Development, Silicon Processing, Modeling and Mechanical Engineering staff are located at the corporate offices in Columbia Maryland. The company chose Fort Wayne Indiana due to its proximity to other entrepreneurial companies throughout the Midwest involved in biotech, medical device and point-of-care health monitors, and on the basis of strong learning communities such as IPFW and IVY Tech with strengths in electronics and biomedical applications.
