Travel Basque Country Invites Visitors to Meet the Locals
Bilbao, Spain (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Travel Basque Country today launched a new travel planning website that connects world travelers with authentic local experiences throughout the Basque region. The easy-to-use site offers visitors a chance to learn about the area's history, culture, gastronomy, geography and architecture before helping to connect them with local guides. Visitors can select from the capital cities of Bilbao, San Sebastian and Vitoria, to charming rural towns and coastal fishing villages.
“We wanted to create a simpler way for people to discover, explore, and learn about the unique history of the region in a way that truly captured the essence of local culture. From a slow food cooking experience in an authentic Basque txoko, to a Hemingway inspired walking tour, we curate experiences that appeal to travelers who want something different,” said Javier Salazar, founder of Travel Basque Country. “We tell our providers there are no limits and encourage them to come to us with unique proposals, from the ultimate gastronomy tour to indulging in hobbies like video games, triathlon or cooking. We haven’t even scratched the surface of everything that is possible.”
The website caters to individuals and groups seeking unique cultural experiences, offering everything from active tourism and architecture, to highly personalized tours. Visitors can select from themes such as gastronomy, history, culture, ecotourism & sports, by city, or from 16 handpicked routes. They can also explore numerous museums and regional festivals. The website has been launched with an initial 25 experiences and the company has plans to roll out dozens of new experiences in the coming months.
