Chicago's Largest Racing Yacht to Fly Massive American Flag Across Lakefront in Tribute to Heroes of September 11th
Chicago (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- On September 11th, in a tribute to the Americans who sacrificed, responded-to and served our great nation on and after 9/11, the mighty yacht OCEAN -- Chicago's flagship and largest racing sailboat -- will motor across the city's lakefront while flying a massive 40 x 60 foot American Flag from her ten-story mast.
The Flag will then be lowered ceremoniously, her high-tech racing sails hoisted, and she will sail fast back across the city skyline in a show of our fortitude as a nation that was unified and inspired on that day.
Aboard OCEAN will be First Responders from the Chicago Marine Police, the Chicago Marine Firefighters, the United States Coast Guard, and other special guests.
A symbol of American freedom, progressive thinking and teamwork, the yacht OCEAN is one of the largest racing sailboats in the world. Her gleaming 86 foot deep-blue hull, 100 foot mast and 14 foot keel cuts through the water with effortless grace.
OCEAN is owned by a group of Chicagoans that will serve as crew on this special day.
The tribute benefits the Pinnacle Foundation and has been organized and underwritten by Pinnacle Yachts.
Pinnacle Foundation President, Gary Feracota, said "The women and men of 9/11 have made our nation stronger. Some look at us now from heaven and others walk among us. They are our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters -- patriots that we must always remember."
The Pinnacle Foundation is a 501(c)3 public charity that follows the philosophy of John F. Kennedy who said "A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships". The Foundation provides funding to small organizations in the Chicago area that make a big difference in the lives of others through the arts, education and community service.
