Atlas World Group Awards $12,000 in College Scholarships
Evansville, IN (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Atlas World Group, Inc., the parent company of one of the nation’s leading moving companies Atlas Van Lines, today announces that it has awarded $12,000 in scholarship money to three college students who are connected to Atlas and its subsidiaries. Each recipient receives $4,000 toward his or her education. The 2013 recipients include Audrey Bengert and Kayli Russell of Evansville, Ind., and Matthew Stierhoff of Sandusky, Ohio.
"As children of our employees and professional van operators, we are pleased to be in a position to offer multiple scholarships year after year to deserving college students,” said Glen Dunkerson, chairman and CEO of Atlas World Group. “It’s just one way we feel we are able to reward our employees for their continued loyalty to our company and the moving industry."
Audrey Bengert is one of two recipients of the Atlas World Group Inc. Scholarship, awarded to any child of a full-time employee working at any Atlas World Group location in the United States or Canada. She is the daughter of Mike Bengert, an employee in the Credit & Collections department at Atlas Van Lines’ headquarters in Evansville, Ind. Bengert is a senior at the Purdue University, majoring in both speech and language pathology and theater. Kayli Russell, daughter of Cathy Russell who works in IT/Network Services at Atlas' Evansville headquarters, is the second recipient of this scholarship. Russell is a senior at Ball State University and is studying public relations and French.
Matthew Stierhoff, son of Mike Stierhoff of Stierhoff Moving, has been selected to receive the Atlas Van Lines Professional Van Operator Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to an Atlas-qualified professional moving van operator's child meeting eligibility requirements. Entering his senior year at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, Stierhoff’s focus of study is accounting.
To be eligible for the scholarships, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, and be enrolled full time as a junior or senior in an accredited university. The winner is then selected randomly from the pool of applicants.
