Saintsbury’s 2013 Harvest to Include Three Vineyard Partners in Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley
Napa, California (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Saintsbury, a pioneering independent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer based in Carneros, will add three additional AVAs to their Vineyard Series portfolio with the 2013 Harvest: Pratt Vineyards (Sonoma Coast AVA), Sundawg Ridge (Russian River Valley AVA) and Donnelly Creek Vineyard (Anderson Valley AVA). Saintsbury chose the vineyards for their unique expression of terroir within exceptional Pinot Noir producing AVAs and for the growers who own and manage them.
In 2004, Saintsbury created its Vineyard Series portfolio, a selection of high quality vineyards that results in single vineyard Pinot Noir bottlings. These wines demonstrate the winery’s strong commitment to working in partnership with its growers. Saintsbury’s winemaking team is led by Chris Kajani, Winemaker, a seven-year veteran of the winery, and Tim Colla, Associate Winemaker and three-year veteran of the winery.
Pratt Vineyard-Sonoma Coast AVA
A quintessential Sonoma Coast hillside vineyard planted in 1996/1997 is located just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean at 900’ elevation, seeing just 2000 degree days and considered low region I. Pinot noir clones include Pommard, 23, 777, 828 & 114.

Sundawg Ridge Vineyard-Russian River AVA
Planted in 1999 and 2000 on the site of a Gravenstein apple orchard, Sundawg is 7-acre hillside vineyard located in Green Valley within the Russian River Valley. The vineyard is south/southwest facing and is planted to 100% Pinot noir with Calera, Dijon 115 and Pommard clones. Classic Goldridge sandy loam soils, 3-4 feet deep provide great drainage and optimum stress for the vines.

Donnelly Creek-Anderson Valley AVA
A 20 plus year old vineyard, Donnelly Creek vineyard is on a hillside east of the town of Boonville. Half the vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir and includes clones 113, Stang-Davis 104 and Pommard.
