Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) September 05, 2013 -- In conjunction with the Convention Industry Council (CIC), Bobrow Associates, Inc., EventGenuity® LLC, EproMeetingsApps and Destination Marketing Association International’s empowerMINT.com, PSAV recently participated in a webinar that broke down the ins-and-outs of ordering High-Speed Internet Access (HSIA) for meetings planners entitled “What You Need to Know When ‘Free’ is Not an Option.”
In today’s tech-reliant world, it is more important than ever to have a viable resource for HSIA at home, in the office and most importantly when you are attending a meeting. It’s time to be “in-the-know” when it comes to being able to determine how much bandwidth attendees will need during an event and what level of service is required.
Taking it one step further, Senior Vice President, Operations John Rissi explains in the webinar how important knowing how much HSIA bandwidth is needed, used and whether you are getting the service you paid for is for today’s savvy meeting planner.
“It is important to know not only the number of participants but also the expected use of the Internet. Who is going to be there? Are they going to be low, medium or high users and the number and types of devices in use? Most of us now travel with three devices and you have to understand that they are going to be connecting three devices. It does sap the network when you talk about wireless access points. Wireless access points have a certain number of finite devices that can be connected to them,” explained Rissi in a portion of the Webinar.
Rissi went on to discuss that PSAV developed the Attendee Bandwidth Estimator for the CIC in order to assist in calculating the appropriate bandwidth necessary for any meeting. This resource can also be found on the PSAV website at: http://www.psav.com/bandwidth_estimator/.
