Leading Hospital Introduces Employee Resource for Health and Wellness
Burlington, VT (PRWEB) September 04, 2013 -- Marathon Health, Inc. today announced its partnership with St. Tammany Parish Hospital (STPH) to provide onsite health services for eligible STPH employees. Opening in early January 2014, the onsite health center will provide Marathon Health’s total population health management model, including preventative screenings and assessments, health coaching, disease management, and acute care.
The St. Tammany Parish Hospital system, located in Covington, La., delivers highly personalized care to ensure patients and their families receive world-class healthcare close to home. This new initiative delivers the same highly personalized care to employees as part of an initiative to create a culture of health and wellness.
“We teach our patients how important preventative care and wellness visits are to their overall health, and our new initiative will help our staff take that same proactive approach,” said STPH Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Sharon Toups. “Marathon Health’s proven model for decreasing the prevalence rates of risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, and inactivity will help us get there.”
Marathon Health’s ability to change the health profile of a population is based on its collaborative care model. This model is based on combining the clinical expertise of the provider with the Marathon Health Engagement System™ technology platform and a respect for the opinions and values of the patient. Together, these three aspects create a “new” patient experience that drives higher satisfaction, improved outcomes, and lower costs.
STPH’s onsite health center will be staffed by a full-time Marathon Health nurse practitioner providing services to 1170 STPH employees.
“St. Tammany joins other progressive health systems from across the country that have partnered with Marathon Health who clearly want to lead by example and improve the culture of health,” said Marathon Health CEO Jerry Ford. “We look forward to collaborating with the St. Tammany team and using all the institutional knowledge we have available as we change healthcare delivery from within.”
