The staff and vendors of The Cotton Company are also expressing their gratitude to the local heroes by bringing notes of appreciation and baked goods to the First Responders of Wake Forest. They will be meeting at the Wake Forest Fire Department at 9:00am and then make their way to the Police Department shortly after. The public is welcome to join The Cotton Company in its efforts to thank the First Responders of Wake Forest by bringing notes of appreciation during store hours or accompanying them on the morning of the 9th.
Jessica Woodard, General Manager of The Cotton Company, expresses why First Responders Week is important to her: “In 2008 my husband and I got a telephone call informing us that his uncle had been killed in the line of duty as a police officer in Texas. It was a tragic time for our family. He was killed by a gunman after responding to a 911 call. The care and support we received from the First Responders and their families was one I will never forget. My husband’s other uncle still works as a police officer on that force, so the struggles Wake Forest First Responders go through will always humble me. I was sparked to do the First Responders Week at The Cotton Company because of what those men and women did for us during those tumultuous months. All First Responders deserve our respect and appreciation and all too often we don’t give it.”
The Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment (http://www.gjcae.org) is also joining with The Cotton Company in showing its appreciation to Wake Forest First Responders by sponsoring $100 in store Gift Cards to the Fire and Police Departments.
The Cotton Company is a Boutique Marketplace Shopping Destination and Art Gallery in the heart of Historic Downtown Wake Forest. With over 50 individual businesses and artists, we strive to support local small businesses and drive the entrepreneurial spirit of the vendors who reside inside.
