LRQA South Africa gets ready for food safety events
(PRWEB UK) 5 September 2013 -- On September 11, LRQA South Africa will be attending the inaugural GFSI Food Safety event in South Africa. The GFSI Focus Day will provide stakeholders from the South African food industry with thorough background information on the principles behind the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and will demonstrate real examples of the benefits that working within the GFSI framework provides. It will also serve as a unique opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange with top food safety experts and decision makers from global companies, local South African food industry and government.
LRQA will capitalise on the number of food safety professionals who will be in town, by holding their own Food Safety Seminar on Friday 13 September.
Cor Groenveld, LRQA Global Head of Food Supply Chain Services and Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Food Safety Certification (owner of FSSC 22000), will be the keynote speaker at the seminar, and will address the current status and future plans of FSSC 22000 -the complete food safety management system certification scheme.
“With the South African food industry facing ever more demanding customers, increasing government requirements, brand issues, environmental impacts, growth and profitability concerns, organisations serving the South African food sector need to be sure that their food supply chain is safe, secure and sustainable,” commented Cor. “This seminar will address some of these key issues and will guide delegates on how they can maximise food safety.” Cor Groenveld is recognised as one of the world’s leading food safety experts and will also give updates on the GFSI and the Global Markets Programme along with demonstrating LRQA’s technical expertise and services available to organisations serving the food sector within South Africa and the wider global arena.
