Hillphoenix Honored with GreenChill 2012-2013 Achievement Award for Store Certification Excellence
Conyers, Georgia (PRWEB) September 09, 2013 -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) GreenChill Partnership announced the recipients of its 2012-2013 Environmental Achievement Awards. Hillphoenix earned the GreenChill 2012-2013 Achievement Award for Store Certification Excellence. This award goes to the manufacturer of commercial refrigeration systems that installed systems in the most GreenChill-certified stores over the past year.
Hillphoenix installed 41 systems in GreenChill-certified stores in 2012, and 92 systems in stores since the GreenChill certification program was launched.
“We are honored to have GreenChill recognize our effort to bring environmentally friendly refrigeration to market. The growing demand for sustainable refrigeration is a testament to the work that GreenChill has done to educate the supermarket industry,” said Scott Martin, director, sustainable technologies for Hillphoenix. “As a manufacturer, we are driven to offer products that exceed expectations in terms of merchandising capabilities, performance, sustainability and energy consumption.”
EPA’s GreenChill Partnership works with supermarkets to reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change. The Partnership helps supermarkets transition to environmentally friendlier refrigerants; reduce harmful refrigerant emissions; and adopt greener refrigeration technologies and environmental best practices. There are approximately 8,000 GreenChill Partner stores throughout the nation.
Hillphoenix designs and manufactures commercial refrigerated display cases and specialty products, refrigeration systems, integrated power distribution systems, and walk-in coolers and freezers. Hillphoenix technology has been used in 49 GreenChill-certified stores across the United States, including five GreenChill platinum stores.
“For two years, running Hillphoenix has proven to be a leader in making advanced refrigeration technology a reality in supermarkets across the nation. Hillphoenix’s work to meet ambitious environmental standards exemplifies the goals of the GreenChill Store Certification Program,“ said Tom Land, GreenChill partnership manager.
The EPA estimates that if supermarkets nationwide reduced their emissions to the GreenChill average emissions rate, the industry would eliminate the equivalent of 27 million metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, equal to removing more than 4.3 million passenger vehicles from the road. This would also help restore the earth’s ozone layer, which protects the earth from the sun’s damaging ultraviolet radiation, a leading cause of skin cancer.
