New Research Says Breastfeeding May Boost IQ, Creators of mombo™ Nursing Pillows by Comfort & Harmony™ Weigh In
(PRWEB) September 05, 2013 -- Breastfed children may have higher IQs, said a new study published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics (7.29.13). According to the research findings, three and seven years old breastfed children scored higher on language and intelligence tests, reported Reuters (7.29.13).
The study results showed children who were fed only breast milk performed a little better on the language and intelligence tests for each extra month women of reported breastfeeding, said Reuters.
The research findings also support recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics for exclusive breastfeeding of infants for approximately six months, followed by a combination of solid foods and more breastfeeding. The components of breast milk, including amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids and cholesterol, are believed to be important for the development of children’s brains.
mombo™ nursing pillows from Comfort & Harmony™ are specially designed to make breastfeeding easier for mom and baby both. The two-sided design called Firm2Soft™ gives mom and baby extra support on the firm side, so both can stay in a comfortable position while nursing. The other side of the pillow, the soft side, can be used for lounging, tummy time and as a support for baby when she or he begins to sit up. The pillow also features a removable vibration unit that soothes baby.
The mombo nursing pillow is available at Babies “R” Us™. It comes in a diverse assortment of slipcovers that range from solid colors and patterns. Mombo pillows can be color-coordinated and customized.
The study tracked 1,312 Massachusetts women and was entitled, “Infant Feeding and Childhood Cognition at Ages 3 and 7 Years. Effects of Breastfeeding Duration and Exclusivity.”
The Reuters article cited is “Breastfeeding tied to kids' intelligence.”
