A Brief History of Pieroth Home Wine Tasting Experiences
60 years ago Elmar Pieroth, oldest son of Philipp Ferdinand Pieroth, introduced the innovative ‘home wine tasting experiences’. He saw this as an ideal opportunity for presenting an individual wine range and offering a unique customer service where potential customers could try before they buy. This service was implemented with the support of his younger brother Kuno Pieroth and a number of members of staff. The personal customer service that Pieroth home wine tasting offered marked the start of the growth of the House of Pieroth to the international market leader that it is today.
After 5 years of success in Germany, England became the first country to attempt home wine tasting experiences abroad. So in 1958, Pieroth wine consultants, under the guidance of Elmar Pieroth, started selling wines with the new sales approach. The quality of both the wines and of the customer support was so popular amongst British wine-lovers that a subsidiary was founded in London. This was the first foreign subsidiary for WIV Wein International AG who today own over 40 companies in over 20 countries.
