The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) today announced that it received a significant grant from British Petroleum, PLC (BP) Gulf Seafood & Tourism Promotional Fund. The grant was given as part of BP's promotional fund designed to support programs that enhance and promote gulf coast seafood and tourism. DCWAF's world-class wine auction, which is ranked among the nation’s top 10 charity wine auctions by Wine Spectator Magazine, attracts wine enthusiasts from around the country to visit South Walton and Destin for the premier event.

“We actively sought this grant for the benefit of children in need in Northwest Florida and are extremely honored to be chosen by BP from the large number of non-profit organizations that applied,” said John Russell, president of the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation.

The grant for $288,640 will allow DCWAF to enhance the auction and culinary events as well as increase their marketing and promotion activities. The added reach will attract new patrons and attendees from around the country to participate in the Destin Charity Wine Auction weekend, as well as experience the beauty and amenities of the area while benefiting the children of Northwest Florida.

"Our sole mission is to help the children in need in Northwest Florida. We went to bat for these kids in applying for this grant. Now, we have additional resources to help further our charitable objectives," continued Russell. " We are extremely grateful to BP for their recognition and we are committed to expertly managing the resources they have given us in order to create a positive outcome for the children of our community."

“While we have the good fortune of living and working in one the most attractive areas in the country, the needs of our children have continued to be a challenge, particularly during the past several years,” said Russell. “We are helping to address today’s needs, and we are mindful that the children’s organizations we serve, will require our help well into the future.”

The dates for next year’s Destin Charity Wine Auction Weekend are April 25-27, 2014. For individuals and businesses interested in learning more about the event and ways to get involved, visit http://www.dcwaf.org or call 850-650-3732.
