Pioneering Death-Care Educator Speaks about Honoring Life's Final Passage: Families Caring for Their Own at Death
Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- Jerrigrace Lyons is a nationally known leader in the movement to transform the way our society views death and dying. She appeared on the front page of The Wall Street Journal, and was featured in NBC News and in the acclaimed PBS documentary "A Family Undertaking."
Ms. Lyons' visit is sponsored by Threshold Support Circle and its parent organization, Pivot Point, a dynamic resource for people in the second half of life. Threshold Support Circle provides a forum for exploring end-of-life issues through speakers, workshops, and films.
The public talk called, "Bringing Funerals Back Home," will take place on Thursday October 10, 7:30 PM at Stony Run Friends Meetinghouse. No charge, donations gratefully accepted.
In addition to the public talk, Ms. Lyons will present Home Funeral Guide Training, Levels 1 & 2, on October 11-12 and 13-14 at The Institute for Christian and Jewish Studies in Towson. These trainings are open to all interested individuals. CEU's are available for professionals.
Through the non-profit Final Passages, founded in 1995, Jerrigrace Lyons provides educational programming for lay persons and professionals in such areas as: Conscious Dying, Natural Death Care, Green Burial, and Ceremonies tailored to families' needs and traditions. A pioneer in the new field of "home funeral guidance," Ms. Lyons has supported hundreds of families to create personalized home funerals over the past 18 years. She is a founding member of the National Home Funeral Alliance.
