LAGUNA WOODS, Calif. - A naval officer embarks on a series of adventures and finds himself embroiled in romances with three different women in James R. Youngblood’s new novel, “Clandestine Affairs of the Heart: Jonathon’s Destiny” (published by iUniverse).
Jonathon Roberts comes from a long line of naval officers. He has been groomed since birth to serve his country honorably, and as a U.S. Navy SEAL, he does not disappoint. Driven to succeed, he is assigned to the CIA in Afghanistan, where he poses as a local Afghan and infiltrates Taliban territory to gain intelligence. Immersed in an unfamiliar culture, Jonathon loses track of Annie, his first true love.
Over the next three years, Jonathon is awarded two Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, The Navy Cross and the Congressional Medal of Honor. Although he still pines for Annie, he still maintains two other relationships with Sue Walker and Becky Simon.
At the end of his Afghan assignment, Jonathon is happy to return to the United States with the Navy, but his stay is short-lived when he is assigned to Naval Intelligence and appointed as a U.S. special representative to Afghanistan. Sue Walker has gotten married; Jonathon assumed he would end up with Becky. But does this new assignment mean that he might find Annie in Afghanistan once again?
