"Century Theatres and VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa are both best-of-class operators. Their combined presence will transform this location into an unrivaled regional destination in the Mountain View community and Silicon Valley."
San Rafael, CA (PRWEB) September 05, 2013
SyWest Development has announced redevelopment plans that are designed to change the dynamics of the Interstate 101 corridor in Mountain View, CA. The new development is strategically located on prime real estate at 1500 N. Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View near its intersection with Interstate 101 and will be anchored by a new state-of-the-art 16-screen Century movie theatre and VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa, a premier resort-style athletic club situated within a 130,000 square foot campus. The development will also include Class-A office space and a yet-to-be named hospitality operator.
Bill Vierra, President of SyWest Development, is pleased to announce these plans. “We are excited to move forward with Phase I of this development with two premier anchors; Century Theatres and VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa are both best-of-class operators. Their combined presence will transform this location into an unrivaled regional destination in the Mountain View community and Silicon Valley.”
“Century has been operating a movie theatre on this site for over 50 years,” states Tim Warner, Cinemark’s Chief Executive Officer. “In 1962 a drive-in theatre was constructed, which was later replaced by a multi-screen theatre in 1984. Now, we are thrilled to introduce a new state-of-the-art Century movie theatre to our guests in Mountain View. This complex will feature our new NextGen concept which offers the latest technology and cutting edge amenities, including a Cinemark XD auditorium. The new theatre will confirm Century’s reputation among our guests as the preferred place in the market to enjoy a great movie-going experience. Construction will start in 2014 with a targeted opening date for March of 2015.”
Mountain View will be VillaSport’s second Bay Area location after its recently-announced Redwood City club. Joseph Syufy, CEO and President of VillaSport, describes how VillaSport is unique. “VillaSport is much more than fitness; we are truly a place for families to gather and socialize with their neighbors. It is the only place where fitness, family and community all come together. Our resort-style campus and unsurpassed programs, equipment and amenities are the perfect fit for this market and we are thrilled to have Mountain View as the second location in our planned network of Bay Area clubs.”
Phase II of the project will include prime office space and hospitality in the form of a hotel. Mr. Vierra says, “We are talking with a number of different operators for these businesses and look forward to more exciting announcements in the near future.”
