Tampa is a premier city for sports, especially baseball, and we’re organizing this event to show the nation just how happy we are to have a great team like the Rays here in our town.
Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) September 06, 2013
Although they compete against each other every day, a number of Tampa-area auto dealers are coming together to support the Tampa Bay Rays for the September 18 “Top Off the Trop.”
The event, led by Brett Morgan of Morgan Automotive Group, aims to organize a “surprise sellout” for an upcoming Rays’ home game at Tropicana Field against the Texas Rangers. A wide range of auto dealers and other area businesses have partnered for the effort, demonstrating the strong commitment the Tampa community has for its Major League Baseball team.
“The Tampa area has a very competitive automotive sales industry, but even fierce competitors can come together to support a local cause like this,” said Morgan. “We’re tired of hearing that Rays fans don’t support their team. Tampa is a premier city for sports, especially baseball, and we’re organizing this event to show the nation just how happy we are to have a great team like the Rays here in our town.”
Local companies participating in the effort include Toyota of Tampa Bay, Brandon Honda, Mercedes-Benz of Tampa, Titan Dealer Services, Spring Engineering, Jerry Ulm Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Hyundai of New Port Richey, Friendly Kia of New Port Richey, Gator Ford and Stadium Toyota. Moore & Scarry Advertising and CCF&N Insurance are also contributing.
The Rays will face the Rangers on ESPN’s nationally televised “Wednesday Night Baseball,” in the middle of an intense playoff race and the team’s second-to-last home stand of the season. Groups of 20 or more attending the game will receive a free Rays hat for each member and a lower-level reserved ticket for just $20 each. No Ticketmaster or any other fees will be added on to that price. Morgan Auto Group will also donate $1 to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation for each ticket sold through the promotion.
Those interested in learning more or organizing a group for the game are invited to email Morgan at bmorgan(at)morganautogroup(dot)com, including a contact person and the number of tickets requested. A member of the Rays’ ticket office will follow up and assist with providing specially coded tickets for the game.
“This has been an exciting season for Rays fans and we continue to root on our team as it makes a run at the pennant again this year,” said Morgan. “We want to see this community come together to ‘Top Off the Trop’ and showcase just how much this city loves its professional baseball club.”
The September 18 matchup will feature two teams in a race for American League playoff spots along with Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, New York and Oakland. To learn more about “Top Off the Trop,” go to http://topoffthetrop.blogspot.com.
