Manchester, UK (PRWEB UK) 6 September 2013 -- Online marketers need to think carefully about the emails they send, and focus on quality content rather than flashy graphics, in order to get the best results from their efforts, Kenny Goodman has said in a new Find the Edge article.

He uses his regular Friday post to explain - in detail – nine tips to help online marketers improve their open rates on a consistent basis.

Goodman said: "Clicking ‘delete’, ‘unsubscribe’ or even ‘report spam’ based on a split second decision is so easy – and we all do it to keep our inbox clean – but what is it that separates an opened, read and clicked message from one consigned to the depths of the internet marketing graveyard?

"While people are often overwhelmed by the number of marketing emails they receive, it is still by far one of the most effective channels.

"Using these techniques can help your emails avoid the fate of being deleted without being opened, helping you to engage your audience more effectively."

Among the tips he provides is to tell a story with marketing material, to avoid becoming transfixed on flashy graphics, and to consider optimising messages to mobile devices.

Goodman also highlights the importance of building a personal brand, and working on building a fantastic reputation.

He said: "It may seem like a dream now, but you need to get to the position where your audience members are actively looking forward to receiving your emails. As you can imagine, this will work wonders for your conversion rates.

"Building your reputation is simple, you just need to deliver what you say you will, solve your audience’s problems with a great product/service, entertain them where possible, and share your knowledge effectively. Oh yes, and only send mail to those people who have given you permission to do so."
