Dallas entrepreneurs leave their comfy corporate jobs to return to their start-up roots, found 214 Interactive

...there is an obvious need for tools and guidance to help local businesses reach their customers online

Some people aren't built to climb corporate ladders. Dave Hanson and Terrence Gordon are proof of that. These two high-power corporate executives helped sell their small automotive marketing company to Dealertrack Technologies (TRAK) only to find themselves in start-up mode once again. After their employment obligation ended, Hanson and Gordon left the publicly-traded behemoth to launch 214 Interactive, an online advertising agency in Dallas specializing in Reputation Management, Search Engine Marketing and Social Marketing for local businesses.

"Start-ups have spirit, loyalty and drive like no other," says Gordon, who has worked for companies such as Sony Pictures Entertainment and CareerBuilder. He has also helped launch numerous Internet start-ups including a successful online advertising agency of his own in California prior to moving back to Dallas where he built the "Search & Media" department at eCarList for a full year without salary only to help sell the company for millions 3 years later. "The simple risk vs. reward with launching a new company creates the passion and innovation most large corporations struggle with," says Gordon. "That is what we identify with most when it comes to our clients."

Since their departure from "big corporate", Hanson and Gordon decided to apply their combined online marketing expertise to launching 214 Interactive, their newest venture - an online advertising agency in Dallas.

Hanson is no stranger to working for large corporations either, having served as Director at Yahoo! prior to building the "Interactive" division at eCarList, which contributed to its sale. "With 85% of consumers searching for local businesses online and more than half of those businesses lacking a web presence, there is an obvious need for tools and guidance to help local businesses reach their customers online," says Hanson. "There are still few businesses who understand the importance of a fully optimized and cohesive web strategy. We're excited to help change that."

Dallas seems to be the right place for a B2B services company. DFW has the largest population of corporate headquarters in the Country, and is ranked 7th in number of small businesses according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
