StrikeIron® Partners With Food Bank of CENC for Sort-A-Rama Day of Service
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- StrikeIron joined 13 local organizations at the NC State Fairgrounds yesterday, September 11, for the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina’s second annual Sort-A-Rama Day of Service. This community volunteer event hosted 700 corporate volunteers to assemble over 100,000 meals for distribution in the Food Bank’s 34-county service area.
This was StrikeIron’s first time participating in the Sort-A-Rama Day of Service. The 2012 event hosted 400 volunteers and provided 35,000 meals to families in central and eastern North Carolina.
“We were lucky enough to have this opportunity to work with the Food Bank and other local organizations to provide for North Carolinians in need,” said Sean O’Leary, CEO of StrikeIron. “We have done previous work with the Food Bank and we are proud to support their mission to let no one go hungry in central and eastern North Carolina.”
StrikeIron joined companies such as Cisco, BlueCross Blue Shield of NC and Food Lion as partners at the Sort-A-Rama. Partnering companies sponsored the event, providing funding and volunteers to package bulk beans and pasta into family-sized bags for distribution.
“We were grateful for StrikeIron’s partnership at the Sort-A-Rama Day of Service,” said Linda Fisher, Manager, Food Drives and Special Events at the Food Bank of CENC. “The StrikeIron employees are consistently dedicated to our cause and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
