“Leading Edge” Hosted by Jimmy Johnson Features New Programming on a Painful Debilitating Disease: Rheumatoid Arthritis
(PRWEB) September 08, 2013 -- Affecting nearly 1% of the adult population, Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease resulting in a chronic inflammatory disorder. The disease occurs when the immune system, designed to fight off foreign bacteria, mistakenly attacks the body’s tissues. As a result, it affects the lining of the joints causing painful swelling commonly in the hands and feet, sometime affecting other organs of the body. Though the cause is unknown, understanding the symptoms will help lead to early detection and treatment.
“Leading Edge with Jimmy Johnson” will shine a light on Rheumatoid Arthritis and educate the viewers on treatment options. Though rheumatoid arthritis is chronic and therefore incurable, medications are available to relieve symptoms and reduce swelling, as well as modify the disease and put it into remission. The “Leading Edge” Series will feature medical professionals treating the disease as well as patients living with the chronic illness.
The series is distributed to Public Television stations throughout the United States and is not distributed through PBS. Please visit the Leading Edge website at http://www.leadingedgeseries.com or email the producers at info(at)leadingedgeseries(dot)com for more information.
