The Canadian Opera Company has received a commitment of $1 million from Hampton Securities Limited CEO Peter Deeb.

So who says that finance and music do not mix?

Hampton Securities has been a fixture on Bay Street for many years as one of Canada’s leading wealth managers with a reputation built on investment performance. This year the Deeb family who started the business are celebrating 50 years in the financial services industry by backing performance of another kind.

The latest $1 million donation will go towards the opera company's Ensemble Studio, a training program for young opera professionals. The Canadian Opera Company has expressed great gratitude for Peter Deeb's support to the organization, revealing that Mr. Deeb’s patronage and generous gift would directly support Canada's next generation of young and talented opera professionals.

Every year, only a few young professionals join the Ensemble Studio after a rigorous audition and elimination process that attracts close to 200 hopefuls each year. Each participant receives world-class training from the biggest names in opera from all over the world.

Mr. Deeb relates that it is, "a great honour to participate in this program and to help equip young opera professionals with vocal, acting, and language training, as well as give them much needed exposure and experience.”

Mr. Deeb also commends the work and efforts of the Canadian Opera Company and the Ensemble Studio and thanks them for making sure that the "art form has a future.” Mr. Deeb believes that the COC has, “gone above and beyond its mandate,” in keeping opera alive and well in the country and in investing in training young and talented professionals.
