Firm's New York office continues growth with M&A partner.

Her experience and talent bolster the firm’s national corporate and M&A capabilities as we expand services for our clients’ more sophisticated transactions.

Rima Moawad, an experienced corporate lawyer with extensive background in private equity and public M&A transactions, has joined the rapidly growing New York office of AmLaw 100 firm Haynes and Boone, LLP, as a partner in the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group.

“Rima’s arrival marks another significant hire as we continue growing our New York office,” said Ken Bezozo, the firm’s New York managing partner. “Her experience and talent bolster the firm’s national corporate and M&A capabilities as we expand services for our clients’ more sophisticated transactions.”

Terry Conner, firm managing partner, added, “Rima’s hiring reinforces our ongoing strategy to provide our clients with top tier legal representation in New York and beyond. We are happy to add such a strong practitioner to our transactional practice.”

Moawad’s practice focuses on representing public companies, private equity firms and management groups in domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, going private and other corporate transactions.

“Rima’s deep background in highly sophisticated private equity and public M&A transactions will benefit the firm as we continue to grow,” said Tom Harris, partner in the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. “With the addition of her considerable talent and current relationships, we are well positioned to respond to our clients’ needs.”

Moawad’s representations have included advising Neuberger Berman in its on-going buyout of the equity stake of the Lehman Brothers, Estate in Neuberger, which was the largest global asset management M&A transaction of 2012, as well as Grifols S.A. in its $4 billion acquisition of Talecris Biotherapeutics, which at the time was the largest LBO since the financial crisis. The Deal magazine highlighted the Grifols S.A. transaction as a 2011 Private Equity Deal of the Year. She also represented Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in more than twenty transactions.

“Haynes and Boone’s strategy for the New York office provides an exciting platform for growth,” said Moawad. “The firm’s client first and teamwork culture makes Haynes and Boone an ideal fit for me. I look forward to being an integral part in the dynamic growth of the New York office and corporate practice. This is an exciting time for the firm and I am thrilled to be part of it.”

The firm’s New York office is the most active growing office of the firm’s 12 U.S. and international locations. To accommodate this rapid growth the firm has significantly increased its leasehold in the 70-story, iconic 30 Rockefeller Center complex.

In addition to her professional work, Moawad dedicates her legal talents to not-for-profit organizations such as the Arab Bankers Association of America, of which she is a board member and a member of the executive committee, Social and Economic Action for Lebanon (SEAL), where she serves as secretary, and the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, one of India's largest non-governmental organizations.
