Dutch Nurses Visit NCH to Learn Nursing Excellence
Arlington Heights, IL (PRWEB) September 09, 2013 -- A group of Dutch nurses recently visited Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) to shadow their counterparts and learn more about NCH’s nursing excellence and clinical care.
NCH is among the best hospitals in the country for nursing care and has held the prestigious designation of Magnet Status for nursing excellence since 2006 from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. NCH has achieved excellence through quality of care, use of best practices, and integration of a team-based delivery care model among physicians, nurses and therapists.
The Dutch visitors spent four days at NCH and took in educational presentations before learning how their nursing peers at NCH worked in various clinical units.
“It is exciting to have this international connection,” says Vicky Goeddeke, Magnet Recognition and Nursing Excellence Program Manager at NCH. “We discuss patient and nursing satisfaction, respect among peers and collegiality among physicians.”
Magnet status, earned by just 6.9 percent of all U.S. hospitals, is considered the gold standard in nursing excellence. Magnet hospitals have been proven to have better patient outcomes, lower mortality rates, increased patient satisfaction, shorter lengths of stay, higher nurse-to-patient ratios, and greater success at attracting and retaining the best healthcare professionals.
NCH plans to host Dutch nurses for another visit in 2014.
