Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) selects Advanced Wireless Group, LLC (AWG) for Public WiFi Concessions Agreement
MIAMI, FL (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- Advanced Wireless Group, LLC (AWG), a leader in the design, integration, and operation of large venue public wireless networks, announced today that is has been awarded the wireless Internet services contract and concessions agreement for Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) through a competitive bidding process through the City of Charlotte.
As part of a continual effort to provide a high quality complimentary WiFi experience for travelers at CLT, AWG will operate the public WiFi service and implement a state of the art digital advertising program within the WiFi portal. Not only will this assist in funding ongoing required enhancements to the WiFi network and increase CLT’s current advertising revenue, it will also allow for further promotion of the airport’s operations and the Greater Charlotte area.
“Airports can’t help but recognize the need to provide WiFi as an amenity for travelers, but they continue to struggle with funding the infrastructure and operating expenses required to provide a high-quality, complimentary web experience,” said Scott Phillips, President and CEO at AWG. “We are thrilled to have been selected by CLT to operate their public WiFi service and implement a minimally invasive advertising program to ensure a satisfactory web experience for travelers.”
Under this agreement, travelers at CLT will continue to enjoy high-quality, complimentary access to its WiFi network after watching a brief sponsored message. A timer on the web portal will alert travelers several minutes before their session expires and at that time, they will have the option to view another sponsored ad to further enjoy an unlimited amount of complimentary sessions.
“Charlotte Douglas is excited to work with Advanced Wireless Group, who will provide passengers a user-friendly experience while incorporating advertising and customer service features through a new CLT-branded splash page,” said Jennifer Long, passenger experience manager at CLT. “And most importantly, CLT remains committed to providing free WiFi to its customers.”
AWG, the industry pioneer of the hybrid WiFi model, has been providing high-quality WiFi to airport passengers since 2004. As outlined in this contract, AWG will manage CLT’s wireless infrastructure for 3 years, with two options for one-year extensions.
With the addition of CLT to AWG’s esteemed portfolio of airports, it now operates public WiFi services in 16 airports across the country including Los Angeles International, Minneapolis and Baltimore-Washington. Additionally, CLT marks the eighth airport win for AWG in the last year alone.
