Connecticut Health Council to Host ‘The Future of Personalized Medicine’ with Award-Winning Author and Science Journalist Carl Zimmer
Hartford, Connecticut (PRWEB) September 09, 2013 -- The Connecticut Health Council, an association of health sector leaders who work together to promote Connecticut as a national center of health excellence and to improve health care and wellness, will host ‘The Future of Personalized Medicine’ with Carl Zimmer on Friday, September 13th from 7:30-9:30a.m. at The New Haven Lawn Club.
"This is an exciting time to be talking about personalized medicine. Through my reporting for the New York Times and elsewhere, I've come to appreciate just how much potential there is for tailoring medicine to our individual biology,” Zimmer said. “But we can't ignore the complexity that this research is revealing. Our genomes are revealing surprising layers of complicated interactions, and we even have to pay attention to the germs that call us home."
During ‘The Future of Personalized Medicine’ Mr. Zimmer will discuss the evolution of personalized medicine and its projected impact on patient care in the U.S. Mr. Zimmer is the author of twelve books, text books and hundreds of articles published in such publications as Scientific American, Science and Popular Science.
“Zimmer brings a wealth of scientific expertise and thoughtful insights on personalized medicine to the Council,” said Oz Griebel, President and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance which provides the operational support for the Council. “We are delighted to welcome him and look forward to a thought-provoking presentation.”
The Connecticut Health Council’s programming is designed to link the network of professionals across various components of the health sector, thereby increasing the number of people promoting the State’s significant inventory of health assets and resources.
