Healthplansny.com Receives SHOP (Small Business Health Options) Certification from the New York State Financial Services Department
Westchester, NY (PRWEB) September 11, 2013 -- The New York Health Benefit Exchange (NY State of Health) is an organized marketplace designed to help people shop for and enroll in health insurance coverage. Individuals, families and small businesses will be able to use the Exchange to help them compare insurance options, calculate costs and select coverage online, in person or over the phone.
Beginning October 1st, 2013, The New York Health Exchanges will be open for business in accordance to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Insurance brokers that wish to help consumers and business owners navigate through their health care options must be certified by the New York State Financial Services Department and are required to take an 8 hour class and pass a written exam.
“With less than a month away for the official opening of the Insurance Exchanges, many questions still loom for small business owners about what their responsibilities will be when it comes to offering health insurance to their employees,” says Jay Gerlitz of HealthPlansNY. “Getting certified to help small business owners is very important to us and we wanted to make sure that our company is here to help when the exchanges open for business.”
