Price Deputy is a new service released by Shoeboxed.com that determines whether or not you got the best deal on your recent purchase. The service helps shoppers save money by automatically comparing their purchase receipts to online prices and millions of other receipts in the Shoeboxed database to ensure they paid the lowest possible price.
Price Deputy allows users to forward their email receipts to pricedeputy(at)labs(dot)shoeboxed(dot)com and Shoeboxed will automatically check for lower prices at the time of purchase and notify shoppers if they should return the product and buy elsewhere. If no lower prices are found, the Price Deputy service examines the retailer’s price matching conditions and monitors shoppers’ purchases throughout the price match period.
The Price Deputy tool is free and is not restricted to current Shoeboxed users. Shoppers simply forward their e-receipts to pricedeputy(at)labs(dot)shoeboxed(dot)com, and Shoeboxed will monitor prices and alert users via email if prices drop on their purchases.
“We have learned a lot about consumer behavior and price fluctuations through the millions of receipts we have processed,” said Taylor Mingos, co-founder and CEO of Shoeboxed. “Now we are going to leverage that data to help people save money.”
Shoeboxed plans to extend Price Deputy to include monitoring for physical receipts submitted through their popular mail-in service in the coming weeks.
