Riptide ElementsTM Demo Shows Off Powerful Features of Experience API (xAPI)
Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) September 10, 2013 -- Riptide announced a demo of Riptide ElementsTM recently unveiled at the Orlando Learning Solutions Conference can now be viewed on their website. The demo highlights the custom capabilities of Elements, including a courseware, live data visualization, rapid branching scenario development and gamification.
E-learning, also referred to as distance learning, or interactive multimedia instruction (IMI) has become a massive world wide industry. Reporting standards for e-learning are governed by the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) directorate, and the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) has become the standard over the past 12 years for reporting the results of e-learning. However, SCORM was not developed with a mobile audience in mind, so it follows that many learning management systems (LMS) are not mobile friendly.
Of course, everybody wants to deliver learning to smart tablets and phones these days. The community developed ADL Experience API (xAPI) specification is the successor and the answer to many of SCORM’s limitations. Riptide, a contributing member of ADL xAPI 1.0 workgroup, presented the first working example of real time data reporting using the xAPI .95. The demo, now available on the Riptide Learning website, allows viewing of live dashboard results as users play the role of the Big Bad Wolf in a “gamified” version of the classic tale.
While Elements is SCORM compliant, it offers some immediate advantages. According to Riptide Learning Director Nick Washburn, “Elements is LMS agnostic; it can stand alone or report to your current LMS, allowing for mobile delivery now regardless of your LMS situation. Our courseware component is a mobile web and modern browser application that also works in IE8 and above. We architect Elements product components using a more efficient cloud technology stack so content can be deployed to any device, in any language.”
