The Global Food Protection Institute (GFPI) is promoting global food safety in three different countries this week. Senior staff is holding meetings with food protection officials from Armenia, China, and Eurasian countries.
•Dr. Julia Bradsher, President and CEO of GFPI, is in China on a trade mission with Michigan’s Governor Rick Snyder, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Director, Jamie Clover Adams, and other delegates and companies focused on global food safety.
•Gerald Wojtala, Executive Director of the International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI), is in Armenia with Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) on a project funded through USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Through this program, the team is creating an international food safety model and is training officials on how to teach food safety courses.
•Dr. Craig Kaml, Vice President of Curriculum at IFPTI, is meeting with a delegation of 18 fruit and vegetable growers, processors and packagers from Eurasia in Kalamazoo, Michigan through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s SABIT program.
