MARCO Promotional Products, a leading provider of custom printed marketing items and meeting supplies, announced their campaign to discourage young adults from texting while driving. This campaign is called “Don’t Drive Intxticated” ( where 100 free wristbands are available for the first 200 qualified applicants that provide details on their young driver program, specifically schools, non-profits or other organizations, as well as details on how they will incorporate as part of their initiative.

Our goal is to remind these young drivers that no message is more important than life.

MARCO customers include schools, non-profits organizations, and many companies that host events for young adults. Therefore, the interest in reducing distracted driving incidents is a natural fit. “We are aware of the high incident of traffic accidents due to inattentive driving, as well as a teenagers connection with their cell phone. Our goal is to remind these young drivers that no message is more important than life,” said Dick Nelson, CEO of MARCO Promotional Products.

A local incident near Marco’s Oshkosh, WI corporate office spurred the initial concern surrounding this issue. “MARCO employees have teenagers, grandchildren, and other family members with cell phones and car keys. The statistics are shocking and a concern for all,” said Dick Nelson. “Anything that creates awareness and encourages young adults to think twice before reaching for their cell phone while behind the wheel, is a success as far as we are concerned.”

21% of fatal crashes involving teens between the ages of 15-19 years old are related to cell phone use while driving and more than 50% of teenagers admit to texting at least on occasion while behind the wheel. They feel it is “easy” to multitask and that their generation is capable of handling a variety of tasks at the same time.

Starting mid-September, MARCO has 30,000 free wristbands to hand out to applicants that have demonstration their intended purpose. By filling out a form which is available at MARCO’s website, up to 200 schools, non-profits or qualified applicants can receive up to 100 wristbands free of charge and order additional bands at MARCO’s cost of .25 each. There is no limit on the number of bands that are available for purchase.

Any individual, company, or organization is welcome to order bands at MARCO’s cost of .25 each-with a minimum of 100 ordered. MARCO encourages anyone interested to hand out at private functions or events where drivers will be present.
