Netsmart’s myAvatar™ is First Health and Human Services-Focused EHR to Attain Modular ONC HIT 2014 Meaningful Use Certification
Overland Park, Kansas (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- Netsmart today announced that its myAvatar™ CareRecord™ solution is the first health and human services-focused Electronic Health Record (EHR) to attain Modular ONC HIT 2014 Meaningful Use certification.
The modular Ambulatory certification is the first step toward enabling providers purchasing or using the Avatar 2014 version of the myAvatar CareRecord and related required components to apply for ONC HIT 2014 Meaningful Use incentive funding based on use of a certified EHR.
The company is on schedule to attain full ONC HIT 2014 Meaningful Use certification for its myAvatar, TIER®, myEvolv™, CMHC/MIS and Insight™ CareRecords. These enterprise software solutions, in conjunction with Netsmart‘s order entry, e-prescribing, consumer Web portal and health information exchange (HIE) interoperability technology, will help behavioral health, addiction services, child and family services, I/DD and public health provider organizations take advantage of the significant funding provided for the Meaningful Use of EHRs.
“This new certification reflects our continued investment in clinical solutions that equip our clients to qualify for Meaningful Use incentive funding as they face an increasing demand for services with fewer financial resources,” said Michael Valentine, chief executive officer, Netsmart. “We were the first behavioral health technology provider to offer a Complete certified EHR for Meaningful Use Stage 1 and continue to lead public policy efforts for passage of legislation by Congress to extend Meaningful Use funding eligibility to broader segments of providers.”
Testing for the Avatar 2014 modular certification was conducted by Drummond Group Inc., one of the ONC-Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies (ATCBs) for EHR certification named by the Office of the National Coordinator to provide Meaningful Use certification for EHR systems and applications.
Behavioral health organizations are currently eligible for Medicaid or Medicare Meaningful Use funds based on the number of Eligible Professionals (EPs), such as physicians and nurse practitioners, in their organizations, assuming the organization meets criteria for Meaningful Use of a certified EHR.
