Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Jeffrey C. Joy Named to Tax Section of OC Register Metro’s Annual List of Top Attorneys

Jeffrey C. Joy, administrative shareholder of the Orange County office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig , LLP, has been named to OC Register Metro’s “Top Attorneys” list under Tax. This annual list ranks the region’s top attorneys. According to OC Register Metro, they used an objective third-party source, AVVO, to conduct the research “to reassure prospective clients that a given attorney has a proven track record, expertise specific to their needs and few, if any, complaints against them.”

Joy has more than 25 years of experience in income tax and estate tax planning matters for high-net-worth individuals and the owners of closely held businesses. He works closely with business owners to plan for the transfer of their assets to their children and grandchildren, and develop plans for the succession of ownership in their companies using a variety of techniques, including buy-sell agreements, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, irrevocable trusts, life insurance liquidity plans, and other creative strategies. Joy also has experience in international tax planning, including the facilitation of foreign direct investment in United States real estate, as well as the acquisition of and investment in U.S. businesses by foreign investors, and has represented foreign-based clients in connection with the U.S. tax aspects of structuring and operating U.S. investment portfolios.

Joy received his L.L.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of law, his J.D. from the Washburn University of Law, and his B.S. from the University of Kansas.
