Visit Oakland Announces First Official Oakland Visitor Center and New Office Location
Oakland, California (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- Visit Oakland has officially moved its offices to Oakland's waterfront in Jack London Square. The destination marketing organization will now have a dedicated visitor center for tourists. The new space covers 2,310 sq. ft. and includes iPad stations for visitors to find essential travel information, such as transportation options and things to do. A seating area is available for visitors to relax and review guides, maps and other collateral, and a dedicated travel counselor will provide personal assistance on site.
Visit Oakland has recognized the importance of working with local vendors and artists to adorn the new office space. The organization has partnered with SLATE Art Consulting to display rotating art in the board room and has purchased furniture from Oakland-based company Cost Plus World Market. Visit Oakland has also created an "Instagram Wall" for its visitor center, including images from locals in the community and travelers who utilize the hashtag #OaklandLoveIt.
In addition to the move, Visit Oakland has tapped into the trend of mobile visitor centers, an important way to reach visitors throughout the destination and beyond. The mobile visitor center, powered by One Toyota of Oakland and wrapped by local apparel company Oaklandish, will be a key tool for the organization to serve visitors at festivals, events and in out-of-market destinations.
"We are thrilled to be in Jack London Square—the area is a great destination for visitors, located within close proximity to the Ferry terminal, Amtrak station, and other convenient modes of transportation," said Alison Best, president & CEO of Visit Oakland. "The waterfront is such a picturesque location that is attractive to many visitors, and we are excited to greet out of town guests as they experience the destination. The dining scene, corporate industry and programming are excellent assets to the area."
The new offices and visitor center are located at 481 Water Street, in front of the Waterfront Hotel. An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 12 to welcome the community and celebrate the new location.
