Dancing Chopin - Live Dancing & Live Symphony Orchestra

Share Article

This is a first-of-its-kind event at the Copernicus Center in Chicago. Three non-profits partner for an extraordinary show for both eyes and ears; Chopin's music accompanied by beautiful dancing performed by the Agnieszka Laska Dancers.

Dancing Chopin (live music - live dance) will take place September 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm. The most beautiful pieces of Chopin’s music will be interpreted by accomplished pianist Igor Lipinski, the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra (PASO), and a breathtaking performance by Agnieszka Laska Dancers (ALD). Eight members of the modern ballet company will perform. Ms. Laska, the director and choreographer, is known for creating passionately rich works enjoyed by audiences across the United States, Poland, and Mexico.

This award winning, classically trained, modern ballet company is based in Portland, Oregon and has achieved great success under founder Agnieszka Laska, an accomplished ballerina herself. To the dance company's recent acclaim, AL Dancers has been asked to perform in place of the Joffrey Ballet when they were unavailable. It's easy to understand why most of their shows become standing room only.

The Copernicus Foundation is proud to sponsor this spectacular first-of-its-kind event at the Copernicus Center in Jefferson Park on the Northwest side of Chicago. Enthusiastically received by critics and their audiences, here are just a few of the critic reviews for our special guests Agnieszka Laska Dancers and Igor Lipinski.

“A live music and a live dance performance on the same stage is rare in Portland, and the concert was met with great enthusiasm by the audience, a sold-out house and a standing ovation. [...] Laska has stretched herself choreographically and has gone to new heights in this amazing body of work. The only drawback is that the performance was for one night only.”
By Jamuna Chiarini on June 17, 2013, Oregon Arts Watch

“The nine-member ensemble delivered an exuberant dance, choreographed by Agnieszka Laska, that embraced the music full throttle, and it pointed enthusiastically to May when the ensemble will perform the entire ballet.” By James Bash on April 4, 2013 Oregon Music News

“The concert was met with great enthusiasm by the audience, a sold-out house and a standing ovation.” June 2013, New York Classical

Igor Lipinski -”As a pianist on the cusp of his career, Igor Lipinski holds a special card in his hands. His performances are magical. Literally” By Buffalo News, January 2013.
