'Cups for a Cause' 5K Run Kicks Off October 5 for Breast Cancer Awareness
West Jordan, UT (PRWEB) September 12, 2013 -- The Breast Care Center at Jordan Valley Medical Center invites all community members to gather in support of breast cancer awareness at the ‘Cups for a Cause’ 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Race participants will take mark at Jordan Landing, 7533 Center View Ct., West Jordan, Utah at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers of all levels, including men and children, are invited to run and/or walk to support the women they know and love, and even the ones they don’t, that have been affected by breast cancer. The Center for Disease Control reports that Utah has the second lowest rates of mammograms in the country, so ‘Cups for a Cause’ is geared toward raising awareness about the disease and encouraging women to take more proactive steps toward early detection.
“Early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer,” said Dr. Anne Kieryn, Medical Director of The Breast Care Center at Jordan Valley Medical Center. “The Breast Care Center at Jordan Valley Medical Center is dedicated to providing education and support to women in our community through every stage of health. The Cups for a Cause event is an excellent way to bring the community together to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.”
Race participants can register before September 17 for $25 at CupsForACause5K.com. After September 17, registration is $30 online, and day-of registration is $35 at the race. Chick-fil-A, Great Clips and 24-hour Fitness at Jordan Landing and Camera Shy Photography are sponsors of this year’s event.
