Back2Basics Partners with Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo Community
Flagstaff, Arizona (PRWEB) September 13, 2013 -- When DuPrez started Back2Basics three years ago, he had high hopes of finding supportive locals in Ixtapa, Mexico to partner with. “We’ve been working with, and taking surf lessons from Edgardo for the last 7 years, long before Back2Basics,” DuPrez recalls. “When we approached Edgardo about working with the B2B guys, he was stoked.”
Edgardo Perez Yañez has been surfing a total of 29 years, teaching 15 of those 29 years. “I feel a strong connection to the water… the feeling of riding the waves, it’s indescribable,” Yañez states.
Before working with Back2Basics, he spent years with another company working with adolescents. “Seeing people who are struggling with drug and alcohol addiction working so hard to accomplish something they never thought possible is so rewarding.”
Born and raised in Mexico, Shirley Pineda studied English in Canada and the US for several years. She teaches English year round at a school in Zihuatanejo, and spends her free time teaching the Back2Basics residents Spanish.
“Teaching is so rewarding for me. Hearing kids say words in English and Spanish, and making that connection between the languages is what it’s all about.” Pineda has been working with the B2B residents for the past year. “These guys are great. I know in their eyes I’m the one doing the teaching, but they don’t realize how much they teach me.”
DuPrez is thrilled to be partnering with such great people in Mexico. “It’s rare that you get to work with people you truly consider your friends. Edgar and Shirley definitely fall into that category.”
